The Accounts Assistant plays a vital role in managing financial operations and maintaining accurate financial records for an NGO in Pakistan. The officer will assist the senior finance team in various accounting tasks and contribute to the organization's overall financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Handle day-to-day accounting transactions, such as recording financial transactions, verifying and reconciling invoices, and maintaining ledgers.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments and receipts.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Assist in monitoring budgetary performance against actual expenses.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate banking records.
- Assist in preparing and submitting financial reports to internal stakeholders, donors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support the senior finance team in conducting financial audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraud.
- Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to provide financial information and support for project planning and reporting.
- Stay updated with relevant financial regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and propose improvements when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Prior experience in accounting or finance, preferably in an NGO.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Pakistan's taxation laws and regulations is desirable.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CA, or CMA are a plus.
